It was a great show! It was good to see that the culture room hadn't changed a bit. Still the same old bartenders are working there, those women are ancient...farting dust no doubt. It lit up two red lights, AKA sleeping on the job. I immediately went online. Found out my warranty had been expired for a year and that they would repair this "overheating" error for just $99.99. The box had been on for a whopping 2 minutes. I wasn't gonna have it so I went to YouTube. Found how to open the case, which is a mission...no doubt designed like this to keep people from opening it and to keep people shelling out the cash. Opened the sucker up, cleaned it out with a compressed air can, put it back together and<strike> it works like a charm. </strike> <br /><br />UPDATE: No, it doesn't. <br /><br />I'm sad :( <strike>and looking for people who can fix it...might have to send it to Hialeah.</strike><br /><br />UPDATE 2: <strike>It Still doesn't.</strike><br /><br />Left it overnight at this dude who says he would repair it. Waiting to hear from him.<br /><br />UPDATE 3: Heck yah it works! <br /><br />This dude in Hialeah was the bomb! The xbox is doing fine and dandy, played for more than 3 hours the first night and no problems! A true professional at work. Like a brand new visit from Gabi! She surprised me a couple of months back with the news that she was coming for a week in august. Needless to say it was an amazing week. There was almost no sleep involved and it was just wonderful. We celebrated our birthdays...hers was on the 27th of July, mine was on the 14th. The Hollyweird police had closed one square block for a production. A cable TV show on USA was being filmed. Now I paid no attention to the shoot throughout the day cause you know, I just didn't care - just as many people across the US probably don't care about the show - But then, I heard cries of...hey, is that Method man? I just had to look out the window...and there he was...arguing with Bruce Campbell about something, getting pointed at with guns and all. In between takes, practically the whole office was throwing the "wu-tang" and he looked up, laughed and threw it back at us. It was dope!<br /><br />Then, a concert snuck up on me...For weeks I had no idea that I had bought concert tix to Modest Mouse so we went to the Filmore in Miami Beach last night for the show. Johnny Marr and Isaac and all of them! The show was AMAZING. Modest Mouse has an incredible stage presence and the energy was awesome. We hit up the microbrewery Gordon Birsch and had a burger, then we hit up Redbar, two blocks down...but not before paying 18 dollars for parking! A word of advice... Never park in the Mellon Financial building unless you wanna break into your mutual funds to leave your car in there. We had a lot of fun though! This story has been 8 years in the making...and now we're getting to the good stuff. That's why I'm going to fast forward to now...not going to talk about the past, it's not worth mentioning.<br /><br />She lives in Caracas. I live in South Florida. We've been together for almost 6 months.<br /><br />So she came to visit me. I took a week off to be with her, we met up in Orlando for a weekend, went to universal did a bunch of stuff while she was down...<br /><br />The most wonderful thing is that, it didn't really matter if we were out to dinner on a fancy restaurant or we were sitting in a car by the beach at night, or putting on a ridiculous poncho to brave the sporadic storms in a theme park, it didn't matter what we were doing...I was with her...and with her, everything seems amplified. <br /><br />I don't know what I did to deserve this but, all I know is that she's an amazing gift from God and that I love her and she loves me. And the distance thing? It's not even a thing anymore. And it did...I got there exactly an hour after I switched on my car at 7:00 AM. I was the first one there and some lady put me in a room...surrounded by bean-bags. from there the former ichahmeleonites started trickling in. And we did nothing for a while. A WHILE. <br /><br />One thing about Sapient...they love their whiteboards. They are EVERYWHERE....all over with a bunch of doodles and stuff it didn't take long for blur to assault them all...<br /><br /><br /><br />There's also plenty of wildlife, like peacocks. Just the fact that they are gone from the office, doesn't mean we're gonna lose contact or stop talking...In fact, this week most of us have been hanging out and calling each other and making plans, so it comforts me that our friendships are very much alive and strong.<br /><br />I don't mean to sound like a big cliche but, things happen for a reason.<br /><br />So I've got my chin up, and I'm looking forward to big and small things like...<br /><br />- Karaoke tonight at the Seven Seas.<br />- New shoes and clothes coming in the mail.<br />- Our beach party in honor of JP and Blur's birthday.<br />- Our ICG spring break! I can't wait to see what the YBC is cookin' up.<br />- Weekly ICG band (not named yet!) rehearsals. I took a bass guitar home from the office and an amp I had in my car. From Saturday till now I've been listening and learning great songs ...particularly two great ones by The Smiths and Morrissey.<br /><br />These two are Bigmouth Strikes Again and Suedehead. I haven't been playing bass for a while or anything but I do have a strong background on it due to my brother who is an amazing bass player. He's the one who kinda taught me how to really listen to basslines in songs, and I credit my good musical ear to him.<br /><br />Anyways, Stephen Street is not only a talented producer that with The Smiths back in the day but he also plays the Bass in Morrissey's Suedehead, if you have a chance, crank it up right now and listen to it. This guy has also gone to produce a whole bunch of Blur albums too and he's responsible for crankin' out the hyper-popular tune "Song 2". So a salute to you Mr. Street.<br /><br />Now what can I say about Mr. Andy Rourke. You can't compare this guy's style with any other bass player. He's the guy behind Bigmouth, which has quickly become my favorite song to play just because it's so not conventional, he just doesn't stick to the main notes...he's all about the little details which I like....I found myself this weekend listening closely and going.....Ahhh! you magnificent bastard! That's what you're doing!!! nothing to do in this town. There are things beyond the classic dinner/movie/club/whatever daily grind you're into. Ft. Lauderdale/Miami is so much more, but you gotta know the right people. <br />Last night we went to this place called <a href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&amp;friendID=218463524">Radio-Active Records</a>, off Sunrise Blvd. Now, this place was very particular, not just because they sell old/new vinyl records (which no other place ever does), but because of the people. This was a different crowd, you could tell they just came out for the love of art and music. Sasha was the one who told us about this thing going on, this hardcore punk band was performing and needless to say, they were very good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This place is a warehouse. Right after calle ocho, this place is a wine cellar...Wines from all over the globe are sold here for cheap. And You as a customer can come into this anonymous building, pick your bottle, order a prosciutto and cheese sandwich and just enjoy. Happy Wine at Miami is a wonderful concept for a business. Phillippe, is a french guy who obviously loves what he does for a living, he welcomes everybody into his place, even artists who sporadically come in and play old time cuban songs for you. I got a surprise call from April and she visited! I had a nice talk with my brother from another mother, Javier. I had another suprise call from Richard, he says he's down here in Miami, we're gonna hang out this coming Wednesday! I went to my friend's Carlos to hang out there for a while. I spent time with my dad this morning, watching Planet Earth (a gift from me). And now I'm in bed, and it's cloudy outside. I had a great Christmas. Surprises, good company, great friends. Today I broke out my bag and found all kinds of cool stuff that reminded me of the little things. Like subway trips, or whatever I ate on a particular day. :) Today I did all transportation... Subway tickets, plane tickets, maps, even barf bags :). I also stuck on the back cover a pin for every city I visited...my dad and I made it a point to find a pin for each one. As part of ichameleon Chrismukkah celebrations, the yearbook committee put up the people's choice awards. The preparations for the event were very intense, I got about 15 minutes of sleep in a span of 24 + hours, rendering video and dealing with buggy programs... But in the end it was all worth it...We put up an excellent show. Blur, JP and I (Fish Market) played 3 songs and we blew the roof off that garage...and the show-reel which I slaved over the past weeks was very well received. All the blood, sweat and tears that took for it to be completed were so worth the crowd reacting and the "ICG!" chants that followed. After that Pablo, Cossette and I, went to "La Barraca" for some tapas and sangria and tablao flamenco dancing, which was breath-taking... Last night, when I got home from my cousins house, I found my father just popping in a movie, La Vie En Rose, which is about the life of Edith Piaf...We watched it together and we celebrated Edith like she would have liked to be celebrated, drinking about 3 bottles of Saint Emillion wine and listening to her music.
